Waiting for flooding remarks!

  Reindex Google

luisbal - Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:30 pm

Hi friends:
Recently I changed all my dynamic links to static. I made several changes for a specific link, but now I want google only indexed my last change:

###1: First i do changed dinamic to static:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.perubookstore.com$
RewriteRule ^detallelibro/([^/]+)$ /cgi-bin/perubookstore/store.cgi?action=link&sku=$1 [L]

###2: but then corrected "detallelibro" to "libro" and added new variable:
RewriteRule ^detallelibro/(.*)$ /libro/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^libro/([^/]+)/?(.*)$ /cgi-bin/perubookstore/store.cgi?action=link&sku=$1&titulo=$2 [L]

Note: all these rules are now in my htaccess.

However, google only indexed:
www.domain.com/libro/idproduct (and sometimes domain.com/detallelibro/idproduct)

but no my last and correct link:
http://domain.com/libro/idproduct/name-of-product

I have included my new sitemap in google but nothing. ...

  Google's Cloud Darkens Microsoft

dburdon - Thu Oct 29, 2009 9:28 am

Google has secured a $7.2 million contract to provide Google Apps services to the 30,000 staff of Los Angeles City Council. Google Apps provides e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet services delivered via a cloud computing platform.

This is traditional home territory for Microsoft's desktop based office applications.

Google and Bing Launch Twitter Real Time Feeds

dburdon - Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:30 am

Both Google and Microsoft's Bing have announced that they are to take real time feeds from Twitter. This will greatly increase the almost now nature of their search engine results. It is significant that Microsoft's Bing appeared to lead the way on this initiative and that Google was forced to show its hand within hours of the Bing announcement.

For more: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/microsoft/6401617/Google-and-Microsofts-Bing-sign-landmark-deals-with-Twitter.html

With the speeding up of the news cycle it is imperative for the search engines to retain their role in information dissemination. It is clear that in terms of a real time environment for gauging online opinion and activity Twitter has several advantages over Google and other search engines using traditional search gathering techniques - the crawling, indexing and sorting cycle.   Yahoo Turns the Corner - or Does It?

dburdon - Wed Oct 21, 2009 1:54 pm

It appears that the new boss of Yahoo, Carol Bartz, has helped the business turn the financial corner. Job cuts and a focus on core businesses has seen Quarter 3 profits rise.

Read more here:http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article6883214.ece

The good financial news has to be tempered with the realisation that Yahoo had run up the white flag in the search business. Search revenues fell 19% compared to Q3 2008. Google managed an 8% rise for Adwords over the same period.

Is Keyword Density, Proximity and Prominence Important?

The Leader - Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:05 am

We all know content is King because if you have the words then there may be a search for it but is all the stuff about density, proximity, and prominence a load of crap. Does having a keyword denistiy of 10% make your site rank higher in serps than a density of 0.5%? Does having high proximity or promince make the slight difference to serps?
My experimentation tells me no but what results have others had?

Google Juggernaut Rolls On with $1.64 Billion Profits

dburdon - Fri Oct 16, 2009 7:47 am

The Google money making machine rolls on despite recessionary drag. The search engine monster delivered profits of $1.64 billion in the 3 months to September. Revenues totalled $5.94 billion up from $5.25 billion the previous quarter.

Read more: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/6341069/Google-profits-increase-27pc-to-1.64bn-in-the-third-quarter.html

A billion here, a billion there and you're soon talking real money.

As the results were announced Google CEO Eric Schmidt also said the company was on the lookout for strategic acquisitions. Despite a recent buying spree Google remains heavily dependent on Google Adwords for most of its revenue.

Digital Point Updates Keyword Tracking Tool

dburdon - Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:22 am

Digital Point has updated its free keyword tracking tool. The tool that previously tracked keyword rankings across Google, Yahoo and MSN has had some problems in recent months.

The first was the change in branding and URLs from MSN to Bing. The second was the withdrawal of the Google search API.

Digital Point appears to have got round both these problems with the new release. The new tool can be found here: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/

I have, however, noticed that Google is becoming increasingly sensitive to multiple searches - going as far as blocking my home computer from undertaking them. Secondly, the accuracy of Google results appears patchy using the new tool.

I imagine the tool will take a couple of days to bed down.

It will be interesting to see Microsoft's response.
