Views on Directory Submission Services Wanted  Reply with quote

I am considering using directory submission services (eg: 100 manual submissions) and wondered what peoples thoughts were on these services? I would only consider one of these services if they used my SEO email address (so I know they're submitting me!) and if I could see the list beforehand, but I just wondered if anyone has had any experiences with these type of services?

Hm... firstly, there are bunch services like this and they are really cheap. Just create simple e-mail on Yahoo and give it to them. Don't use your own e-mail because some directories will spam you.

Don't do it if it sounds to good to be true then it is, manually submiting to directries takes a log time and it is a lot of hard work, I am quick and I can just about manage 50 in about 3-4 hours hard graft if I have the list in front of me and I know what I'm doing, anyone claiming to do 500 for $50 or anything like that is lying they are using directory submission software and this is frowned upon by the search engines!

50 directories will cost you about $20 if person just submit using regular form without guarantee that it will be approved... About 10-20 links will be approved, the rest will be "dead" directories or directories who approve only paid submission.

Thanks for the replies - sounds like it would probably be worth it in the long-run to compile a list of quality directories and then submit them to it myself.

I seriously advise against using these services. Many are semi automated and are useless. I have tried many out.

I have gotten FAR better results submitting manually and carefully.

I have used a guy at Web workshop and he is fantastic. I got 500 for $50 and all were hand submitted with about a 90% inclusion rate. Now where else can you find that. He is very busy because his service is so go, you can find the reviews of his service at:
http://www.webworkshop.net/seoforum/viewtopic.php?t=10290

there are 30 pages of comments on his service with people that know what they are talking about. I will be using him again!

You convinced me, I have given it ago on my two blogs, 300 submissions for each, if this works it could make my job alot easier, RU sure this is not considered backhat?

Im sure, there are thousands of people that have used his services and all have said good things. Yes there are some that are not happy but you cannot please everyone. They have a very large team of submitters that hand submit your site and that is why its not blackhat because they do it by hand. The reason they are so cheap is because they are in India and this is not the main thing that they do. Good luck with it!

Do it better and do it yourself
You want to submit over a long period of time
You want to vary your listings and anchor text
I would not trust this to someone else unless you don't care about your web site. There are a ton of free crappy directories, is the service going to use them?

Doing this yourself if you have many sites is impossible (you proabably have a lot of other things to do). And it's one of the things that can be successfully outsourced because it's quite simple but tedious.
So I think it should be tried out and if you find someone that does it well use him again.
