Is Keyword Density, Proximity and Prominence Important?  Reply with quote

We all know content is King because if you have the words then there may be a search for it but is all the stuff about density, proximity, and prominence a load of crap. Does having a keyword denistiy of 10% make your site rank higher in serps than a density of 0.5%? Does having high proximity or promince make the slight difference to serps?
My experimentation tells me no but what results have others had?

Hi, I'm new to SEO 1.

Keyword Density  Reply with quote

The Leader,

I don't believe that a raw keyword density has much meaning. Hard and fast rules that suggest 5, 10 or 12.5% keyword density are misleading. However, don't expect to rank for a keyword phrase that you don't feature on your website.

Currently testing a few ideas on that...

Paul,

I presume you mean the value of a link is largely determined by where it is located? How does this differ from views on topic related nature of a page or website?

density  Reply with quote

there is a ratio you should go by. However, yahoo and google work off a different keyword density. Google is a much lower ratio than yahoo. But to answer your question yes if you have the correct density you will rank better

Correct Density  Reply with quote

I'm not a believer in precise factors such as keyword density. Google, Yahoo and Bing take notice of what words are in place on a website. I don't think its a percentage ratio though.
