Getting into Search engines  Reply with quote

I've found that I get good links for my sites by signing up to be an editor at the directories that are human edited, like http://www.allthewebsites.org/user.php, http://zeal.com, http://skaffe.com, http://joeant.com/, http://www.websavvy.cc/ and, of course, http://dmoz.org, although DMOZ've gotten kind of fussy lately. Of course, once you're in those, you automatically get into Google.

Welcome webmaven.

I've moonlighted at a few of those.

But, especially with DMOZ, unless you are the editor for the category you need to submit to, it doesn't seem to help.

The queues at the good old Mozilla Directory are just so darn long, there doesn't seem to be a good way in.

I've had good sites sitting in the queue there for years...

It's really hard to get listed now a days at dmoz... I tried to submit more than 10 sites and wait for 3 months just find out they are not listed and try to resubmit again and still not listed.

I'm told you should not resubmit since the new submissions are last in line while presumably the old ones are a little closer to getting reviewed. Of course after waiting over a year (on a number of sites) it's hard to believe they are actually doing anything over there.
