Realistically you could be waiting 4+ years.

Or you could be waiting 10 minutes.

Sometimes it's [bad]luck. Sometimes it's just that your topic is of particular interest to the editor. Editors don't have to edit in any particular order or without bias to a subject.

So, in my area real estate always looks pretty good. Automotive looks neglected, don't even start with the bed and breakfast holiday places...

Oh, and don't bother sending me a PM, I'm lowly, and it's highly unlikely I'd even be able to see your submission let alone act on it.

Well my site has been submited from more than 4 months and it is not reviewed yet. But there are lot of people I know who are not listed even after 2 years.

Last time I looked 4+ years was longer than 4 months.

Want to make a difference? become an editor. The fewer sites there are waiting, the sooner your's will be edited.

How many times have you applied?
Have you studied the guidelines?
Have you applied for small, non commercial categories?

Sure, so long as each application shows you're trying to improve and learn.

Becoming an editor. Multiple applications are OK.

Only submit your site once.

There is one common rule for submission in DMOZ.
Submit your site by choosing most appropriate category and than FORGET IT!

I see.. would we be able to submit a single website to more than 1 category (i.e., 2)?

Not recommended.

Most sites don't get into more than one category (although there are huge debates about that) - get the first one before you even think about a second
