Off-page optimization (off-page SEO) are strategies for search engine optimization that are done off the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the page content. Examples of off-page optimization include linking, and placing keywords within link anchor text. Methods of obtaining links can also be considered off-page optimization. These include:
* Press releases
* Article distribution
* Social networking via sites like Digg and Slashdot
* Link campaigns, such as asking complementary businesses to provide links
* Directory listings
* Link exchanges
* Three-way linking
* One-way linking
* Blogging
* Forum posting
* Multiway linking
Off page optimisation or off-page SEO is basically controlling how the internet portrays your website. A professional off-page SEO will be able to employ their own resources to control how search engines view your website and thereby control your ranking. Most off-page SEO techniques done well will result in very high ROI and high ranking in MSN, Google and Yahoo.

Yes off page is a way to get more and more quality links for the site. Google always see:
1. The content of the site
2. The links are coming from other site must referencing the content with the text link(which describe what content is written at the site).
3. Website which is giving link to other site(both should be having same subject).
So key find same subjective site and get the links, but there are different way to get links for different sites

nice point but don't forget on page optimization it's also play major roll for ranking in SERP of all major Search Engine!!

yeah good post, but this is a convergence of a lot of thinks and something simple stupid like a robot.txt can wreck it. 80% of the seo is what is done off site
