Google Strikes Blow for Cloud Computing  Reply with quote

Google has struck a major blow for cloud computing, winning the email account for Rentokil initial a company of 78,000 employees.

Google will provide all the email services for Rentokil, taking over from a range of email clients including Microsoft's Outlook.

The deal will save Rentokil 60% of their email costs. To read more see:

It will be interesting to see Microsoft's response.

Arvind,

in essence, nobody can possibly control the cloud computing market the same way Microsoft has had a virtual monopoly of the desktop. However, Google is the dominant force in the cloud and Microsoft fears moving from desktop as it is the source of most of its revenues.

I'm not sure of I would like the fact that all my corporate email was being housed on Google. Sure email costs come with a price, but security and keeping everything off the Google radar has it's benefits.
