i think SEM (Search Engine Marketing) on the other hand is a greater sphere than seo. SEM consists of SEO, paid placement (PPC) and paid inclusion.

Search Engine Optimization(seo), is actually one element of SEM, or Search Engine Marketing. Search Engine Optimization is the process of configuring, or optimizing your website with the appropriate keywords you wish to be associated with, in a manner that will make it easily "seen" by search engines. On other hand SEM is used for paid inclusion like PPC and adwords.

I think SEM aims to create additional traffic to websites by increasing its visibility on the search engine result pages (SERPs). SEM are those marketing practices that cost money to generate the traffic like Buying placement in search listing or what we called paid inclusion.

Now days SEM is rapidly increasing in trems of traffic and popularity but SEO is different game. it's takes time but give you good and parmanent results

Search Engine Marketing is a broad term that describes all of the activities used to promote web sites and thus generate leads and sales from search engines. SEM includes PPC Management, landing page optimization and SEO.

To break it down to you SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing which deals more with the advertisers, ad agencies, marketing firms and anyone that owns a web site and has a search advertising budget to pay for sponsored listings on a cpc (cost per click) or ppc (pay per click) basis.
SEO on the other hand is the technique employed by web site owners to make their web site more search engine friendly.

SEO is free and late to generate result. It increase organic ranking in many search engines and provides permanent result. SEM is other game. It is short term game or paid. |
