Hello Arvind,
I think 50% bounce rate is not bad most attractive websites are those that cater to the needs of the visitors. Once the readers are fascinated by the landing page of your website they are ready to continue their journey through the pages.

Its all depends on your site. If its ecommerce, you can't expect less bounce rate even with best looking site.

The best bounce rate I've seen for a client was 25% for an e-commerce client. They were able to bring it down once they started capturing what the user searched for and then displayed that text on the page the visitor landed on.
I have other sites that have a 75% bounce rate, but perform very well from a money perspective.
I think at the end of the day, you'll always need to tweak to try to capture more conversions, but in order to gain that insight, you need to have the analytics in place to see where people are jumping off.
Soo many times I have seen improvements come by simplifying the navigation, adding a big button for the user to click on, and sometimes just telling the user what they need to do next.

HI Guys,
Thanks for your responses..
@SEO1 I know buddy, that 50% bounce rate is not a great number, but there is an online competition running on the website so i think it is justified..
@corporateseo it is a commercial website , which provides portfolio website solutions to the creative professional like photographers, artists and designers..
@RankSurge i am fully agree with you buddy..bt mine question is that for a general scenario what should be a satisfying bounce rate?

it really depends on your site. it is a highly shopped with a lot of competition you can almost expect a higher than usual bounce rate. and about your contact page. You might want to include a pop up when people are leaving to join your newsletter this will create more leads on the backend

Be careful about bounce rate. If what you want is to get your customers phoning you then a bounce may not be a problem. I take plenty of calls from people who've found our number and yet visited only one page.

I've seen analytics data of hundreeds of site already... I think it's really up to your niche / traffic sources and ofcourse your site content, but the average is about 30%.
I think 50 is too much....

Sometimes I have hit 70%, I am super happy that others have posted here, as I have asked this question before and no one ever answers honestly. This makes me feel much better!

hi guys,
Bounce rate it down a little bit.. it is now 40% (approximate)
I just increased some content link and create two small banner related to design showcase and banner...
I think this is all about online user behavior...you need to understand who is your targeted audience and how they behave
